Mar 22, 2008
WICHITA, Kan., March 6, 2008 – Value Place, the nation’s fastest-growing extended stay hotel chain, announced today that Gina-Lynne Scharoun, president of Value Place Franchise Services, and Paul Mangiamele, chief development officer and senior vice president of franchise development, were recently recognized as Certified Franchise Executives by the Institute of Certified Franchise Executives, a subsidiary of the International Franchise Association’s (IFA) Educational Foundation.
The Value Place franchising duo received their distinctive awards during the IFA annual convention in Orlando on February 11, after completing more than 3,500 credits of required master-level franchising-specific study.
Scharoun has been at the helm of Value Place Franchise Services LLC since the inception of the company in April 2004. The efforts of Scharoun and her team have led to the signing and more than 40 franchisee groups, which, combined, have committed to build more than 600 Value Place extended stay hotels over the next three to five years. The company currently has more than 80 open extended stay hotels in 19 states with another 54 under construction.
Mangiamele joined Value Place after the New Year and is charged with leading Value Place’s franchise development efforts and fueling the company’s aggressive expansion plans. Prior to joining Value Place, he worked for Sport Clips, Inc. in various senior management capacities, including chief operating officer. While with Sport Clips, Mangiamele led several significant growth initiatives that assisted the organization in growing store count from around 100 stores to more than 500 stores nationwide.
“Value Place is poised for dramatic growth, and Gina-Lynne’s and my involvement in the Certified Franchise Executive program has given us the opportunity to attain very specialized knowledge that will benefit our franchisees and make the Value Place system even stronger,” Mangiamele said.
The IFA is the world’s largest and oldest trade organization. Its members are franchisees, franchisors and suppliers whose business operations span 80 different industries and more than 100 countries. More than 600 candidates are currently enrolled in the Certified Franchise Executive program, which offers franchise leaders a wide range of benefits, including the opportunity to attain specialized knowledge, industry recognition, peer-level networking and professional standing.
